Find someone on Reddit — more often, find their photo
Reddit is largely pseudonymous; most accounts are not tied to a real name or a face. So the honest job here is usually narrower: find where a photo was reposted across Reddit, or spot the same photo used across more than one account.

Reddit is pseudonymous, so be honest about what a face can find
Most Reddit accounts are not a person's real name, and they carry no photo of a face. People post under a handle like throwaway_4471, comment for years, and never show themselves. So "upload a face and find their Reddit account" is the weakest thing you can ask here. The username is not attached to the face, and the face is usually not on the profile at all.
What works is narrower and more useful. A face or a photo can be traced when someone actually posted a picture of themselves — a selfie on a photo subreddit, a verification shot, a face in a group photo on a local community. And a photo can be traced when it was reposted: the same image spreading from account to account, subreddit to subreddit.
Our index covers public pages only. It cannot see inside private or quarantined subreddits, removed or deleted posts, or anything in direct messages. A profile hidden from search engines may still have public posts, but a genuinely private account, a shadow-banned one, or a deleted comment is beyond any outside search, ours included.
Start free: run the photo through reverse image search
Before you pay for anything, put the picture itself through a free reverse image search. Google Images and Google Lens show you copies of the same file across the web; then add site:reddit.com to a Google search to narrow it to Reddit. Yandex is often stronger on faces and on finding a different crop of the same shot.
For Reddit specifically, Karma Decay (karmadecay.com) is a long-running free tool that searches Reddit for where an image has already been posted. It is showing its age — coverage of newer posts is patchy and a small crop can defeat it — but for a plain repost it can still return the subreddits, titles and scores where the picture landed.
These free routes find the same file. They stop the moment the picture is cropped, recolored, or it is simply a different photo of the same person. That gap — same face, different picture — is the only reason to reach for a face search.
Use Reddit's own search for the picture, not the person
Reddit's search bar is built for words, not faces, and there is no reverse image search inside Reddit. But once free tools have handed you a username, a subreddit, or a phrase from a title, Reddit's own search can close the gap. Switch the results to the Media tab to see only image and video posts, and sort by New or Top with a time filter to place when something appeared.
To search inside one community, open the subreddit and use its search bar — it scopes the results to that community. This is how you check whether a selfie someone sent you was lifted from a specific place: r/selfie, a city subreddit, a hobby community where a real photo would plausibly live.
Titles and captions are your lever. Reposted images often carry the same or a lightly reworded title, so searching the exact words from a caption can surface the other places the picture was used, even where the image search misses them.
Read the account: cake day, karma, and comment history
Every public Reddit profile shows two honest signals. The cake day is the account's creation date; the karma total, split into post and comment karma, is how much the account has been upvoted. A face or a photo means little on its own — the account around it tells you more.
A credible person tends to have an older account with a mix of post and comment karma and a history that reads like one human over time: the same interests, the same city, ordinary back-and-forth in comments. A thin account is the warning: created weeks ago, karma built almost entirely from image reposts, no real comments, a username that is one word plus four random digits.
Karma farming is the pattern to know. Bot and resale accounts repost popular images purely to age the account and stack karma, then get sold or pivot to spam and scams. If the only photo on an account is a good-looking selfie and everything else is recycled content, treat the selfie as borrowed until proven otherwise.
The scams a face check actually catches here
The honest use of a face search on Reddit is verification, not pursuit. Someone matches with you, moves you off the app, sends a selfie — you check whether that same face is attached to a different name somewhere public. A face that turns up on an unrelated profile, a stock-photo page, or a different person's account is the tell.
Reddit's own scams lean on stolen photos: karma-farmed accounts wearing a real person's selfie; DMs that start friendly and steer toward crypto, a "recovery" service, or an off-platform app; NSFW verification shots taken from one person and reposted as someone else's. In each of these the picture is real but the account is not.
A clean result proves nothing on its own. Not finding a face elsewhere does not make the account honest, and finding it does not make the person a fraud — people repost their own pictures, and photos get borrowed innocently. Read the whole account, not one match. And keep this to verifying someone you are dealing with, or finding where your own photo went — not tracking a stranger.
