Terms
detsherlock searches public web pages for images containing a face you upload. These terms cover what you may use it for and what you get for your money.
What you may search for
- Your own face, to find where your photos have been published.
- The face of someone who has given you permission.
- A face in a context you are legally entitled to investigate — verifying a person you are talking to online, or research you are authorised to carry out.
What you may not do
- Stalk, harass, intimidate or surveil anyone.
- Build profiles of people without a lawful basis, or resell results as a background-check or screening product.
- Use results to make decisions about employment, housing, credit or insurance. This is not a consumer reporting service.
- Search for a minor's face.
- Upload an image you have no right to use.
What you pay for
- One payment unlocks one report for one uploaded photo. Nothing renews and there is no subscription.
- Payment runs the search. A search that returns no matches is still a completed search — the engine ran against the full index and found nothing, which is itself a result.
- If a search fails on our side, contact us and we will re-run it at no cost or refund it.
What we do not promise
- Results come from a third-party index and are ranked by similarity, not identity. A high score means two images look alike, not that they are the same person.
- Coverage is partial. A face missing from the results may simply not be indexed.
- Do not treat a report as proof of anything on its own.
Ending access
- We log every search and will close accounts that use the service against these terms, without refund for the searches that broke them.
