How to do it

The steps look much like Google's.

Go to yandex.com/images.
Click the camera icon in the search box.
Drag in a photo, pick a file, or paste its address.
On the results page, look at the similar images section — face matches usually surface there.
The Yandex mobile app does the same thing, and the browser version works fine on a phone.

Why it does better on faces

Google reverse image search mostly looks for the same file. Yandex tries to recognise what is in the image, and facial similarity is one of the areas that model is strong at.

The practical upshot: Yandex is the free tool most likely to find a different photo of the same person. Its coverage of Russian and Eastern European sources is also noticeably deeper — and a meaningful share of the photos used on fake accounts come from exactly there.

What to know before uploading

Yandex is a Russian company, and the image you upload is processed on servers in Russia. A face photo is biometric data, and how EU or Turkish protections apply to that processing is, from your side, unclear.

We are telling you this because a tool we recommend carries a cost. If you are uploading your own photo or something sensitive, make that decision knowingly.

Its limits

Yandex is still an image search engine, not a dedicated face search engine. Private accounts and pages behind logins are out of reach, and results come without a similarity score — so judging which match to take seriously is left entirely to you.

Results are also inconsistent: the face you want turns up for one photo and not for another shot of the same person. That is the core difference from a service built on a dedicated face index.

A sensible order

Start with what is free: Google first, then Yandex, then Bing and TinEye. Those four close most cases and cost nothing.

If all of them come back empty and you are still looking for a person, a dedicated face search is the next step — it returns scored results with source links, so you can actually verify what you have.
